Computer Clinic Ltd. has conducted another graduation ceremony for the young people in Ntchisi who were trained in digital and entrepreneurship skills under the Digital Malawi project.
On Friday, September 22, 2023, a ceremony held at the Chibwana Hall saw the graduation of 163 young people in the category of digital skills and 84 in the category of entrepreneurship.
Speaking during the function, the Data Technical Manager for the Public Private Partnership Commission, Paula Kanthambi explained the objectives of the project, which is to empower the youth in remote areas so that they should have the chance to secure jobs and launch their businesses using the skills they learned.
“The project, which the World Bank funds, aims at promoting and improving the livelihood of young people by imparting them with digital and entrepreneurship skills,” added Kanthambi.
Council Chair Arnold Kapolo of Ntchisi, who also happened to be the guest of honour at the event, agreed with Kanthambi. Kapolo thanked Computer Clinic, PPPC, and the government of Malawi for recognising Ntchisi as one of the areas for the project’s implementation in his remarks before the awarding of certificates of course completion got underway.
“When they finish secondary school, many young people in this country lack employment opportunities, and some cannot afford to enroll in various courses. The graduating class now has the chance to receive free training thanks to this effort. I beg the project implementers to take Ntchisi into consideration if there is a subsequent phase,” Kapolo stated.
Richard Ndalama, who spoke on behalf of the entrepreneurship classes, praised the project implementers and mentioned that they have learned how to order things online, pitch business ideas, advertise through social media, and write business plans, among others.
Currently, similar training is being conducted in Mponera, later in Ntcheu, and finally in Rumphii.
